Chair in Contemporary India

Since its establishment, Sciences Po has positioned itself as one of the pre-eminent research universities in the social sciences in Europe.

As part of its ongoing commitment to advancing the study of Asia, Sciences Po has established the Chair in Contemporary India. The first Chair holder has been se and commences their assignment in October 2007.

This Chair is for specialists on Indian studies / Indian Economy / Humanities and Social Studies / Law for one semester (12 weeks) during each academic year.
The Chair holder teaches two regular two-hour courses, at the undergraduate and / or graduate level.
The medium of instruction is English.
The Chair holder also takes part in activities organized by Sciences Po and delivers at least one public lecture, to be called the Contemporary India Lecture series.
Calendar of the Chair: from mid-August to mid-January (Fall semester). The schedule may be modified and the scholar appointed for the Spring semester, if so required.
